"Amble, The Very Slow Ambulance" By Gayle T. Gale

MY REVIEW

Amble, The Very Slow Ambulance is a story which can be shared with all ages. The illustrations are very expressive and the story is one of friendship, making promises, trying to keep those promises, and knowing when promises have to be broken to help someone else. As I read Amble I was drawn into the story, and needed to find out how Amble would deal with his conflict between being an ambulance and keeping his promise to his friend. I read this book to a two year old, who like the little boy in the story, is also afraid of sirens. By the end of the story she was making siren noises, and kept mentioning Amble helped Jeffery. Later on a walk we saw and heard an ambulance. This little two year old made the comment that the ambulance helps people. Books should leave a lasting impression on readers, and Gayle T. Gale's book does just that through the descriptive language, plot, and message of friendship.

Story Summary:

Amble was written over forty years ago by a concerned Auntie, an Emergency Medical Technician, when her nephew confided in her that sirens "scare me to death" The story is about Amble The Very Slow Ambulance and how he overcame his concerns about keeping a promise that he made to a friend, how he became a member of a REAL team and how he kept his job while making his friends happier. After many years, the story continues in print to encourage youngsters and others to overcome fears, become a team player and to help their friends.

About the Author:

Publishing her very first book at the age of 78, Gayle Gale is now a widow, having been married 59 years to Ron who was a retired Highway Patrol Sergeant. They served together as E.M.T. Instructor/trainers, CPR and First AID instructors and were on call and running with the local volunteer ambulance units in the small communities where they have resided. They are the parents of six children, grandparents of many and great-grand parents of many and more to come. Gayle has written many stories, plays and poems throughout her life, most of them to encourage, uplift or honor her friends. She retired from a nursing career after 40 years, and still enjoys, camping, hunting, fishing, sports activities and horses with her family. She resides in Midway Utah and loves it when her family will take her for a vacation in car, boat or plane. She continues to write . . .
